Non-standard healthcare services: definition and characteristics

Non-covered care refers to medical services or products that are not included in the list of items or procedures reimbursed by social security. In other words, non-covered care means that the insured person must pay for it. To be reimbursed, they can, for example, take out supplemental health insurance. Note: the level of reimbursement is equivalent to the coverage specified in the contract and may vary from one policy to another.

How to identify a treatment not listed in the nomenclature?

On a claim form or healthcare estimate, a treatment not listed in the official fee schedule is generally indicated by the initials "HN". If you already have a supplemental health insurance plan, you can also consult your benefits schedule. This can help you identify which treatments are not covered by national health insurance but may be covered (in full or in part) by your supplemental health insurance.

What are the procedures not listed in the nomenclature?

Among the most common non-nominative acts are:

  • osteopathic services;
  • homeopathic medicines;
  • acupuncture;
  • dental implants;
  • certain contact lenses.

Can my health insurance cover part of the costs of treatments not listed in the official schedule?

As we mentioned earlier in this article, supplemental health insurance may cover certain treatments not listed in the official fee schedule. However, this coverage may vary depending on the type of contract you choose with the insurer.

In principle, health insurance benefits are based on a percentage reimbursement of healthcare costs, calculated according to the standard rates set by the national health insurance system. However, some providers offer better coverage (hospitalization, vision, dental) which can naturally increase the cost of the policy.

The Allyane method: a treatment not covered by insurance

The Allyane neuromotor reprogramming method is based on a combination of mental imagery, proprioception, and listening to low-frequency sounds. It allows patients suffering from central motor inhibition to regain their mobility more quickly, as a complement to physiotherapy rehabilitation sessions following surgery, trauma, or in the case of central neurological damage.

Although physiotherapy services are covered by Social Security, the Allyane method is not eligible for direct billing. To find out the rates for our sessions, please feel free to contact a certified practitioner near you or to for this period contact us to get more information.
