Jean-Baptiste Grange, alpine skier and world slalom champion, benefited from two Allyane sessions. Below, he shares his experience of discovering the method and the results observed in his... rehabilitation following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery as well as opportunities that the Allyane method can bring to his practice of skiing and other activities.
What were your expectations and how did you perceive having an Allyane session?
To be honest, I wasn't really very familiar with this process. I didn't know there was a protocol and a machine that existed.
It's true that I have 15 years of experience, and I was already using certain visualization techniques. Specifically, rehearsing a movement, imagining it… So I was somewhat familiar with them. That said, having a tool and a method really allows you to structure that imagination. It's therefore easier to implement because until now, I was really just using visualization in my head.
So, to answer your question, I wasn't familiar with it, and it was our physical trainers who were aware of this method and wanted us to try it.
What were your feelings after the first session?
My situation is really unique because I'm coming back from a knee injury, more specifically an ACL surgery, which is a major operation. It takes a very long time to regain full function.
It's true that sometimes we don't imagine our brain can influence results to such an extent, and that even on very simple things like the glutes or hamstrings, I really noticed a big difference. Most importantly, I managed to use my muscles correctly. So yes, the results were truly remarkable.
The second jumping exercise was much more complex; it involved a lot more movement, including the foot, knee, calf, and thigh. It was a bit harder for me, and I think I was still too far from being able to do it. The brain can't just make you jump overnight; it can't perform miracles.
Why did you want to do a second session?
To see a little bit of progress on the second jumping exercise today. Indeed, I've regained a lot more ability. I wanted to see if I was able to achieve an improvement like the one I saw on the simple hamstring and glute exercise.
And then it was quite interesting because on a more complex exercise I also saw that I could make things progress more quickly.
At the end of today's session, what are the feelings and results obtained?
The results are satisfactory. I think the images speak for themselves anyway.
It's interesting even for being able to use it in other situations. I've started skiing again, so I'll be able to use it for skiing techniques; I think it could be really useful.
